5th-6th Grade
In To Infinity and Beyond, students will master skills built throughout the Adventure Series (K-5), such as number operations, geometry, algebraic thinking, working with measurements and data, word problems, and financial literacy. The workbook will also introduce students to basic concepts beyond elementary math topics as they prepare for their next journey in pre-algebra (covered in the Frontier Series).

1. Place Value and Number Sense
Understanding place value up to billions.
Comparing, ordering, and rounding numbers.
Understanding decimal place value to thousandths.
2. Addition and Subtraction
Mastering addition and subtraction of multi-digit whole numbers.
Adding and subtracting decimals to hundredths.
3. Multiplication and Division
Multiplying multi-digit whole numbers.
Understanding the concepts of prime numbers, composite numbers, and prime factorization.
Dividing whole numbers, including division with remainders.
Multiplying and dividing decimals.
4. Fractions
Adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.
Multiplying fractions by whole numbers and other fractions.
Dividing fractions by whole numbers and vice versa.
Understanding and applying the concepts of equivalent fractions, simplest form, and comparing fractions.
5. Measurement and Data
Understanding and converting among different units of measure within the same measurement system (metric and customary).
Solving problems involving measurement and estimation of intervals of time, liquid volumes, and masses of objects.
Representing and interpreting data using line plots, bar graphs, and line graphs.
Calculating area, perimeter, and volume of various shapes.
6. Geometry
Understanding the properties of two-dimensional shapes, including the classification of polygons.
Exploring the properties of three-dimensional shapes, including volume and surface area.
Investigating the concept of angles and measuring angles with a protractor.
7. Algebraic Thinking
Analyzing patterns and relationships.
Understanding and applying the use of variables to represent numbers.
Solving simple equations and inequalities.
8. Problem Solving and Reasoning
Developing strategies for problem solving, including the use of models, drawings, and logical reasoning.
Applying mathematical concepts to real-world situations.
Enhancing mathematical communication skills through explaining reasoning and solutions.
9. Financial Literacy
Understanding basic concepts of money management, including saving, spending, and budgeting.
